A platform for European makers
Their story should too. Samrtisan helps craftspeople attach a permanent, trusted record of their work to everything they make — so the care, the materials, and the craft behind every object can speak for itself, long after the sale.
Join the founding circle
European makers have always known something that mass production forgot: that the origin of materials matters, that how something is finished determines how long it lasts, that the name of the person who made an object is worth more than a brand logo.
For decades, that knowledge stayed in the workshop. The consumer bought an object and inherited a story they would never hear.
The European Union is now building infrastructure that changes this. Digital Product Passports — standardised, scannable records of a product's materials, origin, and certifications — are becoming mandatory for furniture, textiles, jewellery, and other goods.
We see this not as a regulation to comply with, but as infrastructure European craft has always deserved. A way to make visible what makers already know about their work. An opportunity to celebrate what responsible making actually looks like.
Scan the QR code on a Samrtisan product and you find the complete story of what it is, where it came from, and how to care for it.
Where the oak came from, the certification that proves the forest is sustainably managed, the finishing oil and why the maker chose it over every other option.

Instructions written by the person who made it, specific to this piece and the materials in it. The knowledge that keeps an object going for another generation.
The workshop, the region, the craft tradition. The name of the person who spent hours on something designed to outlast everyone who touches it.
The EU calls this a Digital Product Passport. We call it the story the object has always deserved to carry.
Existing Digital Product Passport solutions are built for manufacturers with dedicated compliance staff and enterprise software budgets. A furniture maker running a one-person workshop from their phone has none of this.
Samrtisan is a mobile editor that lets makers compose their product story in minutes — dragging content blocks, adding their brand colours, linking to certified materials without transcribing a single data sheet by hand.
We hold a shared GS1 identifier so every maker gets a real, standards-compliant QR code at a cost that makes sense for a small workshop. Print it on a label. Engrave it on the object. Tie it to a swing tag. The story travels with the piece forever.
Samrtisan is built from the start as a maker-owned collective. The founding artisans are not beta testers — they are co-owners who shape what this becomes. The infrastructure, the shared GS1 identifier, the supplier connections: these belong to the community, not to investors optimising for an exit.
Your data — your product stories, your materials, your certifications — is yours. It lives in an open format. You can export it, move it, take it with you. Samrtisan has no interest in holding your work hostage. Join because it is useful. Leave if it stops being useful. That is the only relationship worth having.
This is why we start with a small number of founding makers who believe that European craft deserves better tools, better recognition, and a permanent voice attached to what they produce. If that is you, we want to build this with you.
If you're a woodworker, furniture builder, or any maker who cares deeply about materials and longevity — we want you at the founding table. You will shape the product, test it on your real work, and become a co-owner of what it becomes.
We are starting with woodworkers. If that is your craft, you are first in line.
I make things →Sawmills, coating brands, textile mills, hardware suppliers — if your products end up in the hands of European craftspeople, your data belongs in their Digital Product Passports. Every maker who references your product carries your story to their customers at the moment of purchase and beyond.
We are building the first catalogue around wood finishing. If you supply to furniture makers, we want to talk.
